The new nine.ch cockpit
Tuesday, 11. June 2013
The nine.ch cockpit has been developed further to improve the functionality and quality of the user interface. It now offers the following features:
Customers can add tags to their zones, which means projects or third parties can be grouped and assigned to zones. In addition, looking for zones using the search box is quick and easy with tag names.
The input mask for DNS records has been completely revised. Each record type (A, AAAA, CNAME, LOC, MX, NS, SRV, TXT) now has its own input mask with corresponding validation.
The MX records of nine.ch or Google can be added instantly to an existing zone with just one click.
Zones can now be exported as a text file in BIND format at the push of a button, which means the data is easily available to the customer to download and use elsewhere.

New generation of servers
Wednesday, 15. May 2013
From today, our customers can benefit from a new generation of servers. As we mentioned in our previous announcement, the offer has been simplified to the following server models:
Pro:
- 1 Intel Xeon E3-1265LV2 CPU (4 cores)
- 32 GB RAM
- 2x 1000 GB 3.5" SATA 7.2k
- Total of 4 slots for 3.5" HDDs (now also available with SSDs as an option)
- 1 power supply
Dual:
- 2 Intel Xeon E5-2630L CPUs (2x 6 cores)
- 32 GB RAM (can be expanded up to 192 GB as an option)
- 2x 1000 GB 2.5" SATA 10k
- Total of 8 slots for 2.5" HDDs (available with SAS or SSDs as an option)
- Hardware-RAID controller (RAID-0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60)
- RAID BBU (battery backup unit)
- 2 power supplies on different power circuits, each with UPS.
The server model SAS/SSD-Xeon is now offered as a Dual, which can be expanded to SAS and/or SSD hard disks to the SAS/SSD-Xeon configuration with the corresponding hardware upgrades. Another change is the entry server model, for which the Pro model’s predecessor generation system is used with two cores instead of four.
Rack server systems from Intel are used as server hardware. It is a little known fact that Intel not only offers high performance CPUs, but also high quality server systems. These server systems have been specially optimized for the data centre environment and provide very high energy efficiency. nine.ch has a strategic partnership with Intel and is one of the few Intel Platinum partners in Switzerland.
The new server models not only improve performance and increase the standard of basic equipment, but also use less electricity, thanks to low power CPUs and high efficiency power supplies, and are thereby more environmentally-friendly than the previous versions. Despite the numerous improvements and updates, the basic price remains the same.
You will benefit from the new server generation when making an order with immediate effect. Orders will be processed in order of receipt and waiting times may arise under some circumstances.
