Scalability is one of the important factors for customers when deciding for a Kubernetes solution. Organisations with varying workloads throughout the year for instance require their business applications to scale up and down according to their needs. Kubernetes by default allows scaling based on memory (RAM) and computing power (CPU), but not on the multitude of other metrics which could indicate a need for scaling.

Nine Internet Solutions has introduced a new feature by adding KEDA, an autoscaling tool which provides scaling based on predefined events, to its portfolio of managed services. Such events may originate from different sources, for example message queues or the result of a database query. KEDA will be provided as a component of the Nine managed Kubernetes software stack. The software stack consists of a fully maintained selection of industry-standard open source tools and services to help customers run their applications on Kubernetes in a professional production environment. The autoscaling feature is available immediately at no additional charge.

Thomas Hug, founder of Nine Internet Solutions, says: “We are proud to be a first mover in Switzerland when it comes to offering full autoscaling in managed Kubernetes. Thanks to the feedback we receive from our customers, we can continuously improve our offering in the Kubernetes field. I am convinced that with our improved managed Kubernetes product we can provide our customers with the best support to reduce complexity and to handle their applications in an even more automated way.”
