From the very start, nine has always strived to be on the cutting edge of technology. In 2004, nine was the first provider to bring dedicated servers to Switzerland. In 2013, nine became the first technology partner of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Switzerland and took on the management and operation of all websites and app APIs of the NZZ Media Group – entirely in the Amazon Cloud.
The nine manifesto As 9ers, we know where we want to go and are ambitious in reaching our goals.
Our highest priority is the delivery of value to our customers, and we are enthusiastic about ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. We always act proactively, because a 9er always finds a way to master a challenge. We are not just professionals: we are humans with a personality who love to laugh - also with customers.
We are pioneers. We never stop looking for improvements and we are not afraid to try out new stuff that could bring nine, our colleagues or ourselves to the next level - even if we fail. We think outside the box and know no departmental boundaries. We are also geeks who want to get to the bottom of things, so we test new stuff and do not use it until we think it’s nine or 9er material.
Things break and things go wrong. We never blame an individual or a group of colleagues for it. Instead, we focus on improving ourselves. We are girl and boy scouts and we always leave the campground cleaner than we found it. It doesn’t matter if the campground is our cafeteria, a meeting room, code or documentation: it’s all the same to us.
We are all part of the nine crew. We always act as one team, with one common goal. We succeed as a team and fail as a team. This also means that promoting nine is everyone’s responsibility: We always represent nine - when interacting with our customers, attending an event or using social media - we are 9ers.

Three separate data centres, a multiple redundancy network and high-quality server components form the technological backbone of nine.
An audit performed by a certification authority involves reviewing whether the measures that are in place meet the risk management requirements, whether they are applied as defined and whether they are documented accordingly. All this was checked successfully by the certification authority SwissTS.
We would also like to emphasize that successful information security depends on the location of the data and therefore the physical features of the data centre. A secure data centre, however, is just one small aspect of physical information security and, by itself, is no guarantee of ironclad information security. In our view, it would therefore be careless to have only the data centre inspected by the certification authority, which is why we decided to certify the entire company. This will allow nine to ensure documented, seamless information security in line with ISO 27001:2013.
The strong focus of nine.ch on outstanding, customer-oriented services as well as the operation of high-availability managed platforms requires an ongoing, long-term adaptation of internal processes and quality management practices. In order to effectively anchor this continuous improvement process within the company, nine has invested in its own Total Quality Management system. By attending the TQMi course in 2013, it was possible to efficiently set up the management system and integrate it into daily operations. The successful certification, also with the updated norm from 2015, demonstrates that the processes are well-established, continuously improved and that all requirements comply with the internationally recognised standard.
The LPI certification attests to the sound technical competence in a wide range of technologies/products (selection):
